PSP Simulator— Jpcsp v0.09 rev. 773 on PC

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

The PSP simulator based on the Java platform has been updated. Although PSP commercial games still cannot run perfectly on this new edition, at least some home-made software could successfully run on the computer through the PSP simulator of Jpcsp. At present the newest edition is Jpcsp v0.09 rev. 773.

The simulator is made on the basis of Java platform, so you should install the Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) firstly on your computer. According to the introduction of a journalist, the game Puzzle Bobble can run on the recently issued simulator, but when we test it, it cannot.

If you want to install the Jpcsp v0.09 rev. 773 on your computer, here are the directions: Firstly install the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) components, and then visit the SUN official network. Secondly choose the right edition for your computer system to download and install. Thirdly, decompress the Jpcsp, and then use the JER components to run the file which has “jar” as its extension name. Finally the simulator will start up.

About the simulator of PSP itself, as far as I am concerned, perhaps it will not be much welcomed. First of all, for those who have already had PSP, it will have no market, and for those who don’t have it, its present technological capability is, on the other hand, doubted. Now the simulation effect is relatively poor, not even better than the version two years ago. And what’s worse the running speed of the games on the simulator based on Java is slow. So people will rather play on computer on which both the speed and definition is out of question, not mention the wide range varieties of the games which draw people’s great interests. No one needs the simulator of PSP. Indeed there will be a long way to go for Java to achieve that all commercial games can run perfectly on it. It needs both time and effort. Secondly, the feelings for the players on PSP cannot be imitated easily. PSP gives people special feelings, which is very different from that of on computer. So people who like PSP will stick on playing PSP, and at the same time those who like computer games will continue to play on computer instead of on the simulator, not mention the games can be played on the simulator are too limited. For PSP simulator a good example is NDS simulator which is nearly perfect until now. So technically speaking the future of PSP simulator is quite bright, but once again, the feelings of playing on PSP people get while playing can never be simulated, no matter how swift the running speed or how clear the screen the simulator can achieve on computer. That’s why people would rather spend much money on PSP, but not playing PSP games on PSP simulator on computer. The difference might be huge. The little machine is amazing!

SCEA President: The entire platform game PSP version is also hot

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

First, we must admire that this procedure to the eager PSP player nowadays, is definitely acceptable. Of course, if there is no choice. Vaguely, on a certain day, some one of SCEA said confidently that there is no way to transplant the game on PSP. We have seen the transplant game with fame and also the ones with hard reproduce by pantograph in the picture, but to be honest, we didn’t see the PSP game that has been transplanted originally.

However, John Koller, the master of the hardware department in SCEA made some unharmonious sound. Seen from some special examples, it is practical to transplant the game directly, such as

The sale of “Transformers ”in PSP style is 442000, while the one of“Iron Man” is 242000 ,useing PSP Converter. It seems that Sony is satisfied with this result when compared with the dead failure of home-use player.

Well… no matter how SCEA think, what players need is games, good games. I really have no idea that how “Transformers ”  the game could be sold so well, but if all the games on the PSP is within that(“Transformers ”) level, I believe…no matter, my language proficiency is too good enough to imagine that horrible world with too much effort. Dam! How could that sell so much…
